The foundation of Johanna Solar Technology GmbH also marked the beginning of production of a new generation of photovoltaic modules.  Experts consider CIGS thinfim solar modules the most promising future technology.

These solar modules are manufactured in Brandenburg, Germany at one of the most modern production facilities in the world.  The entire business concept, with an overall investment of almost 80 million euros, was the result of an IFE Eriksen initiative. 

The services provided by IFE Eriksen also include raising capital (incl. any guaranteed government funding), complete project management for the construction of the factory as well as assistance with technological issues.

High technology at work:

  • Solar modules based on copper, indium, gallium, sulfide and diselenide
  • High efficiency at low specific investment and production costs
  • Potential efficiency of up to 16%
  • Production capacity of the first factory is 30 MW per year

The foundation of the aleo solar AG (formerly S.M.D. Solar-Manufaktur Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG) in 2001 was a milestone for solar energy in Europe.

IFE Eriksen initiated the idea, developed the concept and founded the company.  As project leader, IFE Eriksen planned and built the solar module factory.  IFE Eriksen is still involved in the expansion of aleo solar today.

Just two years after its foundation, aleo solar AG became one of Europe's top solar module manufacturers.

  • Production capacity of approximately 100 MW in 2008
  • In 2009, increase to 250 MW with offices in Europe and China

IFE Eriksen defined renewable energy in a broader sense than most other companies when it founded the 3E Group.  The group was founded in order to ensure that large, challenging undertakings in the field of renewable energy would have access to adequate financing.
